I’m Eric Huelin, I’ve been creating animations for the last 15 years but I have mainly only worked on other people’s projects as commissions so I decided to make my first animated series called Dragon Skunk. I’m progressing along nicely with this show and will soon be releasing my first episode for all to enjoy.

  • The basic story:

In the near future, 4 sisters start as skunk kits and turned into humans to various degrees. Starting as animals used to test a virus that can turn any animal into a human super soldier. Escaping the lab as kits they now are freelance mercenaries.

  • The evolution:

At first I started to animate in flash then changed to a more purposeful vector animation program. I didn’t like how I drew them at first, also, didn’t know how to animate with the skills of a film director. So I learned all I could learn about movie making, animation and all skills needed to make a good show. At first they were all perfect humans but I thought later that having various degrees of transformation would make more sense and would be more interesting. Also, my first story I animated was about only 1 character and have her discover her lost sisters over time. But that meant to not show the other sisters as to make a reveal of each character over time, it was a bust. The story didn’t have enough of a grab. So now, the story is fast forwarded to them reuniting to fight evils of their world.

  • I want to make a show I never seen before:

They all have hard sci-fi plausible super powers, none fly like Superman or can be taken by the ankles and slammed into concrete and not instantly die. I want it to be as sexy as an anime without the anime done to death tropes, other than being outrageously sexy. All are character driven stories, with a blend of action, comedy, and some romance.

  • Medium:

Now I’m designing models of the characters in 3D but in toon style to look like 2D, I’m one of those who doesn’t like the 3D rubber people or ultra real CG animations. The show Rwby was an inspiration to go the 3D way without needing to lose that toon look. 3D is faster to produce as an animation compared to thousands of drawings no matter how sophisticated the 2D animation software is. For me 3D wins the speed test for a 1 man band animation crew, for now. I already have the voice actors, back story, and several scenes have been completed and is going great.
